Set up now is grab two USBs from the back of my USB hub (in a rack with an XR18), plug in a few pedals and a USB C into the laptop. Kontakt is still a bit of a mystery - using some Arturia stuff, bought a big IK bundle, and the built-in 'Logic' sounds - and all is good. One bank is always a 'mixer' for essential parts - piano/EP/B3/pads/strings/brass/synths etc. eg one bank is always a set of drawbars and organ controls. Had lots of trouble assigning two sustain pedals to be independent, but no such issue as soon as I plugged the Keylabs in.Įverything works as expected. ![]() While waiting for the Arturias to arrive, I had a play setting some stuff up with an old Yammy 88 piano and a Korg arranger. ![]() ![]() Decided to go all MainStage after I was forced to on New Years Eve! Supposed to be provided a Kronos but a Motif turned up and I'm really not familiar enough so dove into MainStage! So, anyway, I decided on 2x Keylabs for my live stuff (88 and a 61). I do use Kontakt at home so was leaning toward the NI - but live I'm trying to keep the CPU usage at a minimum - I tried to get Kontakt stuff mapped on an original Korg NanoControl and it wasn't very friendly at all. I'm sure they're quite comparable on most levels so I had a toss up between the Komplete Kontrols and the Arturia Keylab mkIIs. ![]()
